Scholarships

 

Please see the scholarship opportunities below. For scholarships that do not have an online application, please fill out the following form or come by student services to request the applications. Any requested application will be ready by the end of the following school day. If they are not picked up within three school days, they will be placed in the student's first period teachers box for distribution.

Lenoir-Rhyne University is currently accepting applications for the LR Teaching Scholars program. Priority consideration will be given to students who apply by January 31, 2018, however, seniors are strongly encouraged to apply immediately. Prospective Scholars are also encouraged to attend the Lenoir-Rhyne open house event on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Students may register for this event at www.lr.edu/chooselr 
 
2018 Most Valuable Student Scholarship
The Elks National Foundation awards $2.44 million in college scholarships to a total of 500 high school seniors nationwide. To be eligible, students need to be a high school senior and a U.S. citizen. The awards are as follows: two $50,000 scholarships, two $40,000 scholarships, two $30,000 scholarships, 14 $20,000 scholarships and 480 $4,000 scholarships. Applications are available starting September 1, 2017 at enf.elks.org/mvs. The deadline to apply is November 27, 2017.
 
North Carolina State Elks Association 2018 Nursing Scholarship
Award: One $1000 scholarship
Requirements: One to three letters of recommendation from persons not related to applicant (other than teachers), an essay entitled "Why I want to become a Nurse" and applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.
Application Deadline: Applications must be completed and turned in before December 8, 2017. The applicant will be notified if they have received the scholarship, no later than February 28, 2018. All who are interested, can pick up an application from Ms. Lawson in student services.

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas/Holiday Hero's Scholarship
Award: One $1,000 scholarship
This scholarship opportunity is open to any student in our region willing to host a successful blood drive with CBCC from Nov.15 to Jan.15, 2018. The blood drive must collect at least 25 units to qualify for the scholarship. Students who are interested in this scholarship opportunity can visit www.cbcc.us/scholarships for additional information.
 
Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund
Award: 3-4 Scholarships are available in the amount of $2,500
Deadline: March 31, 2018
 
Hmong Student Association of Carolina
The Hmong Student Association of Carolina has created a nonrenewable $500 scholarship for all Hmong-American students in North Carolina. Students who are eligible and would like to apply for this scholarship can access the application at the following website: http://hsac.web.unc.edu/scholarship/ 
 
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Application opens January 1, 2018 and closes March 31, 2018. Recipients will be selected in June 2018. For more information visit: hsf.net
