Good evening, N-CMS Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of April 14-18, 2025. Parents, mark your calendars, required State End-of-Grade Testing will take place from May 15 through May 22. Extend I testing will begin May 12. Students are required to take end-of-year testing. A letter went home with information about testing and a permission form for students to leave school early on their last day of testing that needs to be returned to school. The permission form is due back by May 9. Please review the letter closely and contact your child’s teacher or the school if you have any questions. N-CMS will hold an ESL Parent meeting on April 14 at 5:30 p.m. Our 6th and 7th-grade students who qualified for the Quarter 3 academic reward will have their reward this Wednesday. On Thursday, students from N-CMS will compete and participate in the Catawba County Special Olympics at Henry Fork Park. We will also have students compete in the Math Competition at CVCC. Thursday will be our schoolwide Positive Behavior Reward. Kona Ice will be here selling snow cones. This is a reminder there is no school on Friday, April 18 In athletic news, N-CMS Cheerleading Tryouts will be held May 6-8 from 3:45-6:30 in the gym. Students must have an up-to-date sports physical on file to try out. This is the only tryout session for both football and basketball seasons. The baseball, softball, and soccer teams will play at Home on Tuesday against Jacobs Fork. They will again play away at Grandview on Thursday. Tuesday will be 8th-grade night for baseball and soccer players. This is a reminder that games start at 4 p.m. Admission is $5, and pets are not allowed at ball games. These are similar to end-of-grade state assessments and will provide valuable data for teachers to help them prepare remediation plans leading up to the state tests. Students will take the math assessment on Monday, Reading on Tuesday, and 8th-grade students will take Science on Thursday. Please encourage your child to do their best, get plenty of rest, and eat breakfast. N-CHS Color Guard and Dance Team tryouts will be held April 7-9, 3-5 p.m. in the band room. This is for 8th graders who are attending N-CHS or Discovery next year. Members of the N-CMS Chorus will attend the Lenoir-Rhyne Musical Festival this Tuesday. Band and Chorus students have a trip to the Carowinds Festival of Music event on Friday. The Corner Table is a local organization that supports our local families in need. They provide food for families in need and are currently preparing for the summer session. Our Student Leadership Team will collect non-perishable food from through April 17th. N-CHS Color Guard and Dance Team tryouts will be held April 7-9, 3-5 p.m. in the band room. Good evening, N-CMS Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of March 24-28, 2025. 6th and 7th grade students will participate in Digital Literacy lessons during their Social Studies classes this week. Our theatre program performs Shrek the Musical this Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is $10. Come see students from Discovery High School, and N-CMS showcase their talents and enjoy a great show! Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team, which won the county competition this past week. They will compete in the regional competition in a few weeks. Shout out to our middle school band students for their performance at this year’s Music Adjucation event at LR this past week. Our 7th and 8th grade combined band received the highest rating of “Superior!” Our 6th grade received the second-highest rating of “Excellent!” Our Student Leadership Team is collecting non-perishable food items to donate to The Corner Table, which benefits many families in our community. N-CMS will collect food items from March 18 to April 17. In athletic news, The baseball, softball, and soccer teams will play at home on Monday against Grandview. Good evening, N-CMS Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of March 17-21, 2025. There is no school on Monday, March 17. This is a scheduled workday for staff. Quarter 4 starts on Tuesday. Students will have new EA classes and will receive a new schedule. Quarter 3 Report Cards will go home on Friday. Select students will participate in the band adjudication event at LR on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 7th-grade students will experience the “Reality of Money” program through SECU. Half of the 7th grade will go on a field trip to Hart Square on Thursday, and the other half will go on April 3. Our Student Leadership Team is collecting non-perishable food items to donate to The Corner Table, which benefits many families in our community.
