Good evening Red Devil families, we hope you have enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this weekend. We look forward to a full week here at N-CHS and to working hard with and for your student. Here are important reminders and announcements for this coming week. Parents of Juniors and Junior students, please mark your calendars for the upcoming administration of the ACT. This will be offered at N-CHS on March 1st. Juniors will be working hard during the next week during our Red Devil Success time for a last minute Boot Camp Review. Please make sure your student is present each day during this time for the extra review. In athletics, congratulations to our Lady Red Devil basketball team who won the Conference Tournament Championship. These ladies will open up the first round of state playoffs at N-CHS on Tuesday at 6:00pm. Please come out and support these ladies on their quest for another state title! Our men's wrestling team had a successful state tournament showing. Congratulations to Owen Clark and Joesph Lioret-Tutty for winning Individual State Wrestling Titles! Owen won the individual title at 195lbs while Joesph won the individual title at 220lbs. Congratulations also to Isaiah Pittman who placed 5th at 113lbs, Camden Spencer who placed 3rd at 120lbs, and JJ Brawley who placed 3rd at 152lbs. Way to represent Newton-Conover on the state stage! We are proud of you! Parents and Students, please be mindful of our dress code policy concerning midriff shirts (exposed stomach) and hats/hoods. We have seen an influx of students wearing these to school. Please be aware that students will be asked to change or remove should this occur. This could include a phone call home to provide appropriate attire, as well as disciplinary action should student continue not to comply. Please help us with this school policy and its enforcement. Please also be reminded of our tardy and attendance policies. Students must be in their classrooms by the tardy bell which rings at 7:40am. Please make sure you arrive to campus in enough time to make this requirement. Repeated tardies will result in disciplinary action as well as possible loss of driving/parking privileges. Tardies, as well as attendance, also affect exam exemption policies for end of the semester. Please be sure to review these policies in our student handbook shared by teachers and on our school webpage. Students are also reminded that if they drive a car to school, they must park in the student parking lot and purchase a parking pass in the front office. Parents who drop students off at school in the morning are also reminded to come through the car line by the front office doors and always exit our lot turning right. Students are not to be dropped off along the street or in adjacent parking lots. Please help us keep drop off and pick up as safe and moving steadily as possible. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to a great week. We hope you have a great evening, and Go Red Devils!
