Thanksgiving Dinner
Red Devil families, we hope you have had a great weekend of cooler Fall weather. Here are our weekly announcements for the week of 11/21. Parents and students, please remember this will be a shortened week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. School will be closed for students on Wednesday, November 24th through Friday, November 26th. N-CHS will reopen on Monday, November 29th for students and staff. The National Honor Society is hosting tutoring opportunities for all students in all subject areas. Tutoring will be on Mondays until 3:30pm in Ms. Bandy’s room, Room 121. Many other teachers offer weekly tutoring sessions for their classes as well. Please have your student check in with them concerning days/times. Let's help all our students make a successful run to finish this semester strong. The National Technical Honor Society is hosting a Peanut Butter and Jelly drive through the month of November. This food drive will support the Corner Table in Newton. Please bring in your donations to Ms. Glenn's room and help N-CHS support this wonderful ministry. Thank you to all who have already donated. We hope to fill the pantry with donations from our school. Parents and students, we are seeing a drastic increase in the number of students tardy to school and to class. Please remember that students must be IN THEIR CLASSROOM at 7:40am. Please adjust your arrival on campus to make this time. This includes arriving for drop off or student parking prior to 7:30am. Remember also, tardies and absences will play into 'Teacher Made Exam' exemptions at the end of the semester. Refer back to our Student Handbook as well as teacher syllabi for information. Let’s help our students be successful and finish this semester strong. Speaking of end of the semester exams, parents make sure you have marked your calendars with our exams dates. IF your student is enrolled in an EOC course, which is Biology, English 2, Math 1 and Math 3, state testing will occur December 13 - 17. These dates were sent out at the beginning of the semester. The state will only allow us to test during the last five days of each semester for these courses. Please make arrangements for your student to be present this week to take these important exams as they count 20% of your student's final semester grade. Certain CTE courses also have required state tests and will be testing during this week as well. Have your student check with their CTE teacher to discern which courses are required. EOC course review sessions are being planned. Dates and times will be sent out as soon as they are confirmed. Please be sure your student participates to ensure their success and is present each day for class. The 2022 Yearbook can be purchased at a reduced price ($70) from now until Dec 12th. We are also offering a Holiday Bundle Deal. Purchase the 2021 yearbook and the 2022 yearbook for $110, a $50 savings off of the regular price. The Bundle can be purchased during all four lunches or in the main office. For our Red Devil Athletics, our Winter sports seasons have begun. Please refer to our school webpage for game information. We want to wish these athletes and teams the best of luck in their upcoming seasons! We look forward to seeing our Red Devils Monday and Tuesday before the Thanksgiving Holiday break. We hope you have a great evening, and Go Red Devils!
