This week is Homecoming Week for N-CHS. Please see the Spirit Week activities below: Monday - Staff-Student Swap (teachers dress as students, students dress as staff) Tuesday - Barbenheimer -Dress as characters from the popular movies Barbie or Oppenheimmer from this summer. Wednesday - Zoom Day - professional attire on top, casual bottoms Thursday - Grade Colors Day: Seniors in red Juniors in black Sophomores in White Freshmen in Gray Friday - Neon Day Homecoming Week will end with a homecoming dance sponsored by the NCHS Cheerleaders. The dance will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 7-10 in the gym. Tickets will be $15 each . No guests outside of NC will be allowed at this point. Peer tutoring is back! Starting next week, National Honor Society will provide this opportunity after school every Monday. If you need help in any subject area, come to Room 121 to work with a fellow student until 3:30! Small snacks will be provided. Tardies are beginning to accumulate for some students. Please make sure your student is in class prior to 7:40am and encouraged to be in class during the day at the assigned time. Discipline will begin after four tardies with lunch detention and moving to In School Suspension after seven tardies. Parking passes will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during all lunches. All information has been given to students. Please bring your parking pass form, a valid drivers license, and $35 in order to receive your pass. Looking ahead, please be reminded that there is a Teacher Workday this Friday, the 29th. There will be NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. The NCHS homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 7-10 in the gym. Tickets will be $15 each and will go on sale on Monday morning. Today was 'Fun Friday' in Mr. Brucker's Drone Class at N-CHS. Students were able to take their first turn at flying drones around our football field. What a great learning experience and trade skill! Thanks to Mr. Brucker for all his work with this new technology for our students!

Please remember tomorrow, Monday, September 4th, is the Labor Day Holiday. School will be closed for students and staff on Monday, but will reopen on Tuesday, September 5th. School begins at 7:40am for all students. Doors will open at 7:00am. Parents if you will be dropping students off, please follow the posted procedures found in the email, school Facebook, and school webpage. NO LEFT TURNS are allowed into the drop off lot or back onto street. Please do not drop students off or pick up students on the side of the road or in adjacent lots as well. As you enter the lot, there will be three orange cones at the front door. Please pull up to the furthest free cone to drop off or pick up your student to keep traffic flowing. We suggest you be sure to leave early enough to have your student dropped off or in line before 7:20am. This will help our flow of traffic and allow all students to make it into the building before our 7:40am tardy bell. Tardies will begin to be documented this week. Please make sure your student is in class prior to 7:40am and encouraged to be in class during the day at the assigned time. Discipline will begin after four tardies. Due to impending construction, buses have been moved to the front of the school as well. This will also create more congestion in this area for traffic. Please be mindful of following all drop off/pick up procedures and time constraints. Buses will be dismissed at 2:45pm to accommodate this new traffic pattern in the front, with car riders to follow at 2:50pm. Help us keep all of our students safe by following these very important procedures! Happy Week Before School Red Devils! We are looking forward to seeing all of our students on Monday, August 28th at 7:40am. Students will receive their Chromebook and schedule on the first day of school. All students will report to Homeroom first thing on Monday morning to receive both. Homeroom lists will be posted in the Commons Area. School supply needs will be given out by individual teachers during classes on Monday. Due to new state guidelines, N-CCS has had to change all student email addresses. We are no longer using PowerSchool ID as email address. The new scheme has been changed to the first three letters of first name, the first three letters of their name, and the last four digits of their PowerSchool number. If their name is less than three letters, then it will only use two letters. The new configuration will be ffflll####@stu.n-ccs.org Example: Miranda Jones - PowerSchool ID - 123456789 email: mirjon6789@stu.n-ccs.org Please use this information as students are trying to log into their school email prior to school opening!

FYI Red Devil Families:

N-CHS will hold new student registration on Tuesday, Aug. 8th and Wednesday, Aug. 9th from 8:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. in Student Services. Families will be taken on a first come first come basis. To enroll your son or daughter we will need: 1. A RECENT proof of address which must be: power bill, water bill, gas bill, or lease agreement. Bank statements, credit card bills or cell phone bills will not be accepted. 2. A current report card if coming to 9th grade or for any upperclassmen, a recent transcript. 3. Current form of ID ( Driver's license of parent) 4. Immunization records 5. Birth certificate 6. Any custody documents (if applicable). Please note, students MUST be enrolled by a legal parent or guardian. Good Evening Newton-Conover High School Families: If you believe your son or daughter may need to attend summer school to recoup credit for core classes, you can still come by the front office and fill out an application or contact the high school to register. Summer School will begin starting June 12th 8 a.m. till Noon Monday through Thursday for three weeks ending on June 29th. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge. Students please be sure you have checked in with your teachers concerning which exams you are required to take. Students who have NOT turned in a signed check out form will NOT be able to leave after their morning exams. Email and phone calls will NOT be accepted. Mark your calendars and be present as we celebrate our Seniors and their upcoming graduation on Friday, May 26th at 7pm in Gurley Stadium. Parents and students, please take advantage of our peer tutoring that is offered every Monday in Ms. Bandy's room. This is for all subjects and will last until 3:30pm. As we are in the final weeks of this school year, this is a fantastic time to work on pulling grades up and preparing for end of the year exams. Students who are enrolled in Biology will have tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays will be with Mrs. Meadows from 3-4pm. Thursdays will be with Ms. Leonard from 3-4pm in their respective classrooms. Please stay and be prepared for the upcoming Biology EOC! Students enrolled in Math 1 will begin EOC tutoring to prepare for upcoming exams. Please plan to attend tutoring sessions on Monday, May 15 and Thursday, May 18 from 3-5pm in the Math Department. Mrs. Helms’ OCS students enjoyed a great day at Carowinds today to celebrate their hard work all year! Thank you to all who purchased their homemade dog treats to fund half of this trip. Look at those smiles! Thank you Mrs. Helms, Ms. Mundy, and Mr. Heath for working with our students.

Red Devil Seniors returned to their former Elementary Schools today for their Senior Walks! Thank you to North Newton, South Newton, and Shuford Elementary Schools for their celebration of our Seniors. Graduation 2023 is May 26th at 7pm in Gurley Stadium!
