NCHS Student Council will be sponsoring spirit week activities the week of October 10th - 14th. Spirit Days are as follows: Monday - Angel or Devil Tuesday - Adam Sandler Wednesday - BBQ Dad or Soccer Mom Thursday - White Lie T-shirt Day Friday - Red Devil Spirit Color Day Freshmen - White Sophomores - Grey Juniors - Black Seniors - Red All students are welcome to participate, but be reminded that school dress code does apply. We also hope you all will also make plans to attend the Homecoming game on Friday night, October 14th. Parents and students, please remember that school begins each day at 7:40am. Student tardies are beginning to accumulate for 1st period, as well as throughout the school day. Students have 5 minutes between each class to move through the building and be in their next period class. Repeated tardies will result in disciplinary action, as well as parking privileges being revoked. Parents please remember the drop off and pick up pattern for our Red Devils. Please do NOT turn left into or out of the car rider lot. Be sure to pull all the way up to the three orange cones to drop off and pick up your student. This allows our line to flow more smoothly and keeps the line from backing up. Do not drop off or pick up students on the side of road or down the line as this holds up the line from moving. Thank you for helping us keep our Red Devils safe. Parents and students, please remember our dress code. Students are NOT allowed to wear midriff or cut off shirts. This includes being worn under unbuttoned shirts or unzipped coats. Shorts must be an appropriate length, as well as hats and hoods are not allowed in classrooms. Nor is outside food and drink. Examples of each, as well as this information, can be found in the Student Handbook your student should have brought home. This is also posted on our school website. Disciplinary action will begin and student will be asked to call home for clothes. We hope you have a great evening, and as always, Go Red Devils!

Parents, please see the message from Catawba County Public Health: We hope your student is off to a healthy start of the 2022-23 school year. We encourage you to help keep our schools a healthy place for students to learn. There are a few key ways we can do this together: Students who are sick should stay home, no matter what illness they have. Do not send your child to school if he or she is sick, has a fever, nausea/vomiting or other symptoms of illness. At a minimum, all students who are sick should remain home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without use of medications such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin). Please consult with your child’s School Nurse for specific guidance. If your student has symptoms of COVID-19, please have them tested, either through your child’s medical provider, at another test site, or with an at-home test. If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please keep them home and notify your child’s teacher or School Nurse of their positive test. We are at a much different place in the pandemic today than we were just a few months ago, with convenient access to free at-home tests, vaccines available for children, teens and adults, and masks, which are all part of a layered approach to COVID-19 safety. If you have questions about what actions you should take to protect your child, contact your child’s healthcare provider or School Nurse. We are looking forward to this school year and working with you to ensure our school is a safe, healthy place for all students.

Labor Day

Good evening Red Devil families and welcome back to the 2022-23 school year! We are looking forward to seeing all of our Red Devils tomorrow as we begin another year. We have some important information pertaining to school opening to share with you. School begins tomorrow, August 29th at 7:40am for all students. Doors will open at 7:00am. Parents if you will be dropping students off, please follow the posted procedures found in the email, school Facebook and school webpage. NO LEFT TURNS are allowed into the drop off lot or back onto street. Please do not drop students off or pick up students on the side of the road or in adjacent lots as well. As you enter the lot, there will be three orange cones at the front door. Please pull up to the furthest free cone to drop off or pick up your student. We suggest you be sure to leave early enough to have your student dropped off before 7:30am. This will help our flow of traffic and allow all students to make it into the building before our 7:40am tardy bell. Help us keep all of our students safe by following these very important procedures! Student needing busing to school, please be prepared to be at your stop from last year AT LEAST 10 minutes earlier tomorrow. Please be near road so the bus driver can see you waiting. For any questions on busing, please contact Mr. Todd Davis at todd.davis@n-ccs.org or have your student see him during their lunch period. Students will report to their homeroom tomorrow and for the rest of the week. If your student did not pick up their schedule this past week, please see the attached homeroom list in the email. Students will also be able to pick up their schedule and technology in homeroom, as long as all fees have been paid. Students please remember our NCHS dress code as we begin the school year. NO crop tops or cut out shirts are allowed, as well as no hats or hoods in the classroom. Also, make sure shorts are appropriate length. Students will be asked to call home and/or change if clothes do not meet code. All school rules will be discussed with students again in homeroom. Each student will be given a paper copy of our Student Handbook. Parents, please ask your student to look over this with you to familiarize yourself with the school rules. The handbook has also been posted on our school webpage. We are excited to begin another year and look forward to seeing all of our Red Devils tomorrow. We hope you have a great evening and GO RED DEVILS!
