Peer tutoring, hosted by our National Honor Society, will resume this week. It will run on Mondays from 3:00 - 3:30 for the rest of the semester. If you need help in any subject area, come to Room 121 on the math hall to work with a fellow student. Small snacks will be provided.
Congratulations are in order for several of our Red Devils who have recently won state awards! Wrestlers Isaiah Pittman and Boedi Kirkland for became State Champion wrestlers this past Saturday. Congratulations also to Phoenix Michaud for placing 3rd. Also, congratulations to Holly Shepherd for becoming a state champion in Digital Media at the recent state Art Showcase. Way to represent
Red Devil basketball will begin conference tournament play tomorrow. Our men’s team has secured the #1 seed and will play at home beginning at 6pm. Our women’s team will travel to West Lincoln to begin play at 6pm. Good luck to both of these teams!
Tardies have begun accumulating for students. Please make sure your student is in class prior to 7:40am and encouraged to be in class during the day at the assigned time. Discipline will begin after four tardies with lunch detention and moving to In School Suspension after seven tardies. Please help us preserve all the instructional time possible for your student.
Looking ahead, parents please be on the lookout for information coming home regarding upcoming ACT testing for our Junior students. This will impact all of our students in some way on Tuesday, February 27.

CVCC is hosting an information sessions to learn more about Career and College Promise on February 5th, 6pm, at the CVCC Workforce Solutions Complex. All students and parents are invited to attend and learn how to take tuition-free college transfer and CTE classes while still in high school. For questions, see Mrs. Williams, CVCC Scholar Advisor

Please pull up to the furthest free cone to drop off or pick up your student. Likewise, please remember that there are no RIGHT TURNS onto 18th Street by Discovery High School. This is a one-way street during arrival and dismissal times. Help us keep all of our students safe by following these very important procedures!

The NCHS Athletic Boosters and the Red Devil Cheerleading team will be presenting the Miss Newton Conover Pageant to be held on Saturday, February 10th at 6:30pm. The pageant will be held at Newton Conover Middle School. The pageant is open to all 9-12 grade females. Tickets are $10 each. Contact Coach Cara Sigmon at the middle school for further details. Be a part of this years Miss Newton Conover Pageant and a night to remember.

Good evening Red Devil families and welcome to Spring semester! We hope that you have enjoyed your Winter break and are ready to return to school. Here are our announcements for the upcoming week:
Students, we will begin our day in Homeroom tomorrow to pick up paper copies of your Spring schedule. Please check your PowerSchool to confirm your homeroom location. At 8am, we will dismiss to all 1st period classes and run on a normal schedule for the day. Students involved in our Summit program, please know those classes will not begin until January 16th. Students with issues concerning their schedules are asked to NOT go to the front office or Student Services. Homeroom teachers have been given a Google form link to give out to students needing assistance. Counselors will be calling students as able to help with necessary changes.
As a reminder parents and students, school begins tomorrow at 7:40am for all students. Doors will open at 7:00am. Parents if you will be dropping students off, please follow the same procedures from the beginning of the school year. NO LEFT TURNS are allowed into the drop off lot or back onto street. Please do not drop students off or pick up students on the side of the road or in adjacent lots as well. As you enter the lot, there will be three orange cones at the front door. Please pull up to the furthest free cone to drop off or pick up your student. We suggest you be sure to leave early enough to have your student dropped off or in line before 7:20am. This will help our flow of traffic and allow all students to make it into the building before our 7:40am tardy bell. Students enrolled in End of Course classes (Math 1, Math 3, Biology, and English 2) will be taking mandatory exams, as well as some of our Career and Technical Education classes. Please have your student check in with their teacher to see which exams they will need to take. Exams will end on December 21st, which is a half day for students.
Student Council will be hosting another Spirit Week. This will begin tomorrow, Monday, December 11th. Please see the activities on our Facebook page, webpage, and in your email.

Seniors, please be aware of a meeting on Wednesday. Skip Watts with College Foundation of North Carolina will be hosting a Financial Aid night on Wednesday, Dec. 6th at 5:30 p.m. in the media center. Seniors, if you are planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university, Mr. Watts will be discussing how to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Please make plans to attend!
All absence notes for the Fall semester must be turned in to the front office no later than Friday, December 8th. No excuse notes will be accepted after that time. This will be needed to finalized exam exemption for many students.

For the past month, N-CHS National Technical Honor Society has been collecting money for our upcoming Community Christmas Luncheon. Students were able to select a King and Queen by donating money to their favorite nomination. Congratulations to Wing Ly and Kayla Kanupp who were crowned yesterday Snow King and Snow Queen! NTHS was able to raise over $800 for our service opportunity. Thank you to all who participated.

Senior Parents: Show your son or daughter just how proud you are of them for all of their hard work and incredible accomplishments with an ad in the 2024 yearbook. You can add personal photos, special memories, and a unique message to honor and congratulate them in a way they’ll be able to cherish for years to come.
