Good evening Red Devil families, here are a few announcements for the remainder of the week at NCHS. First off, come out and support our Red Devil basketball teams tonight. Both our ladies and men's teams are opening conference tournament play at home. Ladies game will begin at 6pm with our men following around 7:30pm. We wish both teams good luck! Any girls who are interested in playing softball at NCHS are encouraged to come prepared to practice tomorrow. Practice will be after school at the softball field. If you have questions, please see Mr. Davis in the front office. NCHS students will be registering for the 2023-24 school year beginning tomorrow. Students brought home registration sheets last week. Each student will be sitting down with counselors, Mrs. Hayman and Mrs. Swagger, as well as Mrs. May, to help register for appropriate classes. Students, please make sure to bring back your registration sheets with you to prepare for these meetings. Parents and students, please take advantage of our peer tutoring that is offered every Monday in Ms. Bandy's room. This will be for all subjects and will last until 3:30pm. Get a head start on this semester! Tardies are beginning to accumulate for students. Once students reach their 4th tardy, disciplinary action will begin. At student's 7th tardy to any class, In-School Suspension will result. Parents, remember that doors open at 7am and drop off will be in the front office lot. Please turn right into the lot and right out of the lot at the top of the road. This helps us maintain adequate flow of traffic and helps keep our Red Devils safe. Drop off/pick up is also NOT ALLOWED on the side of the road or on adjacent properties. We also ask that parents pull up to the farthest point in the parking lot to drop off your student. It has been a GREAT weekend for NCHS as our Red Devil Wrestlers brought home the State 2A Wrestling Duals Title on Saturday in Greensboro. Congratulations to these men who have worked so hard for this accomplishment this season, as well as Coach Clark, Coach Murray, and Coach Shuffler. We look forward to celebrating them as they return to campus this week. Parents and students please be aware of our next set of workdays. Here are some announcements for this opening week. Students, we will begin our day in Homeroom. If you have forgotten your homeroom assignments, please be sure to check your PowerSchool portal. Students will report to homeroom at the 7:30am arrival bell to receive their class schedules for Spring. We will resume our normal schedule for the day after homeroom is released. Students, no schedule changes will take place tomorrow. If you feel you need to change a class, or something is wrong with your schedule, please pick up a schedule change form in the front office and return to Student Services. Mrs. Hayman and Mrs. Swagger will call students in order of reception. Please do not email counselors or come to Student Services without being called. Schedule changes will be accepted through Wednesday, January 11th. Parents and students, please be reminded that school begins promptly at 740am. Students enrolled in Biology, Math 1, Math 3, English 2, or specific CTE courses 2nd period, will have state exams beginning at 7:40am. ONLY students who turned in signed check-out forms into the office last week will be allowed to leave when testing is complete at 1:00pm. Any student NOT exempt from Teacher Made Exams for all other classes can arrive on campus at 12:30pm and will begin their exams at 1:00pm. Dismissal will be at the normal 2:50pm. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE EARLY FROM ANY EXAM SESSION. Schedules for Wednesday, 4th Period exams will follow the same process as above. Thursday, December 22nd will be an early dismissal. Friday will begin our holiday break. We hope you all have a great evening and are ready to finish this semester strong!

With only four instructional days left for the semester, End of Course test tutoring will continue this week. Biology tutoring will be offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3-4pm. This will take place in Ms. Leonard and Mrs. Meadows rooms. Math 1 and Math 3 will be tutoring this week on Monday and Wednesday until 5pm. This will take place in Mrs. Crider and Ms. Dettman's room, respectively. English 2 will be tutoring in Mrs. Eddin's and Mr. Miller's rooms on Thursday, December 15th. We encourage ALL students enrolled in these courses to stay and take part. Peer tutoring will continue this week from our National Honor Society. Tutoring will be offered Monday until 3:30pm in Ms. Bandy's room. All subjects are offered for this tutoring. Please take advantage of this last opportunity if your student is in need of help academically. Parents and students, be mindful that exams will begin this Friday, December 16th. Exams will take place by period and will comprise of EOC/CTE state exams in the morning sessions and Teacher Made exams in the after lunch sessions. Thursday, December 22nd will be the last day for exams and will be a half-day with early dismissal. Information has been sent home concerning attendance and sign out procedures. Students please check with your teacher to determine when your exams will take place and if you meet teacher made exam exemption. Lastly, students please remember School Christmas Spirit Week will take place this week as well. Please see the attached information in your email, as well as posted on our Facebook page. Mrs. Meadows' Foundations of Biology Classes held a Christmas Party for meeting their class goals! Students set the goals as a class to have little to no missing assignments for the quarter and to have excellent behavior in class! Mrs. Meadows is very proud of her students!
